Kia reveals high-tech EV9

Kia Motors is leading the charge towards electric vehicle (EV) design revolution with its new three-row SUV, the EV9. As the automotive industry rushes to embrace electrification, Kia has laid down the gauntlet with its innovative design, promising technical details on power and range later this month.

The EV9’s polygonal design features sharply-creased pumped fenders, creating an almost-widebody effect around the doors that accentuates its tough stance. Kia has also added its signature ‘Digital Tiger Face’ to the front-end treatment and flush door handles. The running lights and tail lights are vertical and zigzagged, integrated seamlessly into the design.

The interior design of the EV9 is clean and tidy, with an infotainment system, a digital cluster, and a combination of buttons and touch controls that cater to both camps. Families and road trippers will love the second-row seating that can swivel 180 degrees, allowing occupants to face those in the third row for a chat or spirited debate. Kia will offer six- and seven-seat versions of the EV9 to suit different tastes.

The EV9’s design is based on the Concept EV9 that Kia debuted in 2021. The EV9 is set to become the ICE-powered Telluride’s EV equivalent, offering a spacious interior with a wheelbase 7.8 inches longer than its predecessor. The EV9’s dimensions are similar to those of the Telluride, with a length of 194 inches and a width of 81 inches.

The three-row EV market is set to become a hotly contested battleground as more automakers enter the space. However, from what we’ve seen here, it’s clear that Kia has fired one heck of an opening salvo.
