Kia officially announces ute name, reveals Tasman logo

Kia has officially announced the Tasman name in a follow-up advert filled with Australian sporting legends, and has begun a billboard campaign.

In a move that has been widely anticipated within the automotive industry, Kia has formally announced the moniker “Tasman” for its upcoming utility vehicle, confirmed to hit the Aussie market in 2025.

Drawing inspiration from Dutch explorer Abel Tasman’s pioneering circumnavigation of Tasmania’s coastline in 1642, the name “Tasman” pays homage to the spirit of exploration and adventure, aligning with Kia’s vision for the vehicle’s capabilities and appeal.

Damien Meredith, CEO of Kia Australia, expressed pride in the collaborative effort between the Australian team and the company’s Research and Development division in Korea, emphasizing Tasman’s tailored suitability for locals’ needs.
