Hyundai to host PLEOS 2025 for Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs)

Hyundai Motor Group has announced its upcoming developer conference, ‘Pleos 25,’ an event aimed at showcasing its latest infotainment software framework and a new marketplace for vehicle applications. The conference, scheduled for March 28, 2025, at COEX in Seoul, will bring together developers and industry partners as the company deepens its commitment to software-driven mobility.

Hyundai’s Software Vision

Pleos 25 will serve as a platform to introduce Hyundai’s new software brand, PLEOS, which integrates data from vehicles, devices, and connected environments to enhance mobility. As the automotive industry shifts towards software-defined vehicles (SDVs), Hyundai is positioning itself as a leader in this transformation, leveraging in-house software development to enhance vehicle functionality and user experience.

Open Platform for Developers

A key feature of Pleos 25 will be the introduction of an open platform designed to provide developers with access to critical tools, including Software Development Kits (SDKs), Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), and a dedicated development environment. This initiative aligns with a broader industry trend, where automakers seek to replicate the success of mobile app ecosystems within the automotive space.

The move mirrors efforts by companies such as Tesla and Volkswagen, which have developed proprietary operating systems and app platforms to gain greater control over software innovation. By enabling third-party developers to create applications that interact with vehicle data, Hyundai aims to expand the capabilities of its infotainment systems beyond traditional navigation and media functions.

Technical Insights and Industry Collaboration

The conference will feature technical presentations from Hyundai’s software engineers, covering topics including artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, and the evolving role of software in modern vehicles. Attendees will also have the opportunity for hands-on engagement with Hyundai’s SDKs, allowing them to develop and test applications within the new framework.

An exhibition space will highlight collaboration projects between Hyundai and its business partners, offering insight into how third-party developers and enterprises can leverage the company’s platform. Such collaborations have become increasingly common in the industry, with partnerships between automakers and tech firms driving advancements in connected car services.

As Hyundai continues to expand its software capabilities, the success of initiatives like Pleos 25 will be critical in determining its ability to compete in a market where digital ecosystems are becoming as important as the vehicles themselves.
