At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, technology company Nvidia announced its GeForce cloud-based gaming system will soon be integrated into vehicles from Hyundai, BYD, Genesis, Kia and Polestar. With GeForce, car owners will be able to stream online games, with over 1000 titles available, including popular options like Destiny 2 and Fortnite.
According to Nvidia’s Vice President of Automotive, Danny Shapiro, the company has optimized the GeForce service to run on various devices, including laptops, phones, tablets, smart TVs, and now cars. While a strong Wi-Fi connection is ideal, the service can still be used on the go with a reliable 4G or 5G connection.
In-car gaming is a growing trend, with other automakers such as Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW exploring the possibility of integrating games into their dash displays. BMW has recently announced that some 2023 models will be able to stream games through AirConsole, using a smartphone as a controller.
As car owners spend more time in their vehicles, in-car gaming has the potential to provide an enjoyable and convenient entertainment option. Nvidia’s partnership with these five brands is a significant step forward in making this a reality.
