NSW Police To Use Kia Stinger As New Highway Patrol Vehicle

The Kia Stinger will soon be seen in NSW Highway Patrol livery as the NSW Police move to replace the Chrysler 300 SRT.

Joining the BMW X5 and 530D, the 0-100 in 4.9s Stinger will be the new quickest amongst the NSW Police Force’s Highway Patrol fleet.

Chrysler announced that they will no-longer manufacture or support the right-hand drive market, so the move away from the current 300 SRT was not unexpected. With the Stinger being the vehicle of choice in Queensland, Western Australia, and the Northern Territory, it makes sense for New South Wales to employ the affordable performance vehicle.

At just $64k for the GT model with a 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6, the Stinger is a fraction of a second faster than the Chrysler 300. Despite this, the Stinger is more fuel efficieny, so it’s a no-brainer.

The Stinger isn’t the first Korean vehicle to join the wider NSW Police fleet, with the Hyundai iLoad and Sonata being staples, while a one-off electric Kona makes rounds in Penrith.
